Why people have a veranda built

A terrace without a roof gets used a few weeks a year. With a veranda over it you sit there when it drizzles, blows or is just a bit too sunny. In practice it turns your garden from something you look at into a room you sit in.

  • Up to 6 metres wide with no extra post in sight
  • Sheltered in the rain, cool in the sun with screens
  • Protects your garden furniture from weather and dirt
  • Can be extended later with sliding walls, screens or lighting

Choose your roof

Three versions

The difference is mainly in the roof sheet. That determines how much light you let through, how warm it gets underneath and what it costs.

Polycarbonate roof

16 mm multiwall sheet, clear or opal. Keeps the fierce sun out, insulates better than glass and weighs a good deal less — handy if you are fitting it yourself. The most popular version.

  • 16 mm multiwall sheet, clear or opal
  • Insulates best of the three
  • The lightest to fit yourself

Glass roof

8 mm toughened safety glass. Gives the most light, stays crisp for years and rain sounds softer on it. Heavier, though, and with a lot of afternoon sun you will want screens underneath.

  • 8 mm toughened safety glass
  • Gives the most daylight
  • Quieter in the rain than polycarbonate

Cube veranda

A clean cube shape with a straight gutter line and a flat front, with no visible screws at the front. Suits a modern house or a neatly laid-out garden.

  • Straight gutter line, flat front
  • No visible screws
  • Glass or polycarbonate as the roof

What else you choose from

You set everything below in the configurator. Anything you leave out now you can order later — the profiles stay the same.

Dimensions

Width up to 6 metres without an intermediate post, depth up to about 4 metres. Larger spans we arrange with a heavier profile.

Colour

Powder-coated aluminium in anthracite (RAL 7016), cream white (RAL 9001) or black (RAL 9005). Another RAL colour is possible at a surcharge.

Side walls

Fixed side walls of glass or a solid wall of sandwich panels. Keeps the wind out and prying eyes away.

Sun protection

Zip screens built into the structure, manual or electric. Easily makes a few degrees' difference under the roof.

Lighting

Dimmable LED spots in the gutter line, with a switch or remote control. Wiring disappears into the profile.

Wall-mounted or free-standing

Fixed against the house, or free-standing on four posts in the middle of the garden. We supply both with the matching fixings.

Made to measure in Eindhoven

We design and produce in house. That means we do not pick from a catalogue whatever comes closest to your size, but make it to the centimetre. Every profile is cut to length, pre-drilled and numbered, and only leaves once the complete set has been checked.

  • Cut to the centimetre, not to the nearest standard size
  • Pre-drilled and numbered, with a clear manual
  • Checked in full before it leaves our workshop
  • Something missing after all? Then we send it on, no fuss
How the installation works

What does a veranda cost?

Four things set the price: the width, the depth, the roof sheet and the options. Width counts for the most — above four metres the profile goes up a size. Polycarbonate is cheaper than glass, and every sliding wall, screen or set of spotlights comes on top of that.

You see the amount straight away in the configurator, including VAT and including delivery within the Netherlands. You do not have to leave any details for it. Installation by our partner is separate; you get that price on request.

What to check before you order

Measure at several points

House walls are rarely true and terraces almost always slope a little. Measure the width at the top, in the middle and at the bottom, and take the smallest. Measure the depth from the wall to where the roof may end, and watch out for your gutter: it is often in the way.

Look at the ground

The posts stand on paving or on a concrete footing. A terrace of loose slabs on sand is usually not enough — we put a footing underneath. Not sure? Send a photo and we will tell you what is needed.

Planning permission

A veranda in the back garden often needs no permit, but that depends on the depth, the height and how much of your garden is already built on. Check your situation with your local authority. It takes ten minutes and saves trouble later.

Maintenance

Aluminium and glass need almost no maintenance. Clearing the gutter once or twice a year and wiping the roof down with water and a soft brush is enough. Do not use abrasives on the coating.

Yes, our systems are designed for it. Everything arrives cut to size and pre-drilled, with a clear manual. With two people and an ordinary toolbox it is usually a Saturday's work. If it does not work out, our installation partner still comes.

Polycarbonate insulates better, keeps the fiercest sun out and is lighter to fit. Glass gives more light, stays crisp longer and is quieter in the rain. If your terrace faces south, opal polycarbonate or glass with screens is often the most pleasant.

Up to 6 metres we span with no extra post in sight. If you want wider, that is possible with a heavier profile or with a post in between. We work that out for you.

In many cases no, if the veranda stands in the back garden and remains within the permit-free dimensions. It depends on the depth, the height and how much of your plot is already built on. Check your situation with your local authority.

Five to ten working days, even for non-standard sizes. When spring is busy it may take a little longer; you hear that with your confirmation.

Five years on the structure and the system, and ten years on the material, provided it is correctly installed. The warranty is the same whether you fit it yourself or have it done.
